Billy Barty (born William John Bertanzetti) (October 25, 1924–December 23, 2000) was an Italian-American film actor.
Barty was innate inside Millsboro, Pennsylvania. He was one of a best known 20th century people with dwarfism, having large roles inside popular film like Foul Play, The Lord of the Rings (both 1978), Under the Rainbow (1981), Masters of the Universe (1987), Willow (1988) and UHF (1989). However because of his stature, virtually all of his act consisted of minor role & gag roles. Barty was known for his limitless energy & enthusiasm for any productions where he appeared.
Barty was the noted militant for the promotion of rights for others by owning dwarfism. He was disappointed using contemporary Hervé Villechaize's insistence that they were "midgets" instead of actors with nanism. Barty founded a Little People of America to help with his activism.
Barty was married to his married woman Shirley from either 1950 until his death. It experienced 2 youngsters, Braden & Lori. Barty & his personal were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The recent tribute book inside his life was published in December 2002. Within Reach: An Inspirational Journey into the Life, Legacy and Influence of Billy Barty was produced by Barty's nephew, Michael Copel&, and his married woman, Debra Copeland.
